DAY 01: LOS ANGELES/SAN FRANCISCO - BEIJING Depart from San Francisco for Beijing, the capital of China by Air China.

DAY 02: BEIJING
The representative of the Ananda Travel Beijing office welcomes you to the city of the emperors and escorts you to the Presidential State Guest Hotel or similar.

DAY 03: BEIJING (B/L/D)
After breakfast, visit the Tiananmen Square then enter the imperial-red walls of the ornate Forbidden City, the emperors' palace off-limits to commoners for centuries. Think of the processions of incense-bearing priests at the Temple of Heaven, where the emperor went to humble himself in prayer to guarantee the realm's good harvests.

DAY 04: BEIJING (B/L/D)
Enjoy your full-day excursion to the ancient Great Wall, originally built as protection from the Huns and other tribes and never completely fulfilling its purpose. Continue from the Wall to the famous Ming Tombs, with their white marble archway and thrones and Sacred Way lined with ghostly animal sculptures. Attend a welcome banquet featuring Peking Roast Duck in the evening.

DAY 05: BEIJING - XIAN (B/L/D)
Free at leisure the morning before transferring to your flight to Xian, center of China's world from the 11th century BC to the early 10th century AD, and gateway to the Silk Road that connected ancient China to the markets of the Mediterranean. Overnight at the Jianguo Hotel or similar.

DAY 06: XIAN (B/L/D)
A thrilling day has you visiting the excavation site of Xian's resident army of 8000 terra cotta soldiers, each soldier haunting in his individuality and many equipped with chariots and horses. Also tour the Provincial History Museum, ancient City Wall, and Big Wild Goose Pagoda, before crowning the evening with the glittering spectacle of the Tang Dynasty Theater Dinner and Show.

DAY 07: XIAN - GUILIN (B/L/D)
From China's greatest antiquities, fly south today to Guilin, one of China's finest scenic areas as well as a center of diverse ethnic cultures. Overnight at Guilin Royal Garden Hotel or similar.

DAY 08: GUILIN (B/L/D)
A unique experience of nature, full day Li River cruise. Every curve of the river captures new moods and views of delicate rock formation, blossoming trees, caves, ethnic villages, and fishermen casting nets or using the ancient method of bringing in the catch with cormorants. A dinner party and cultural show by local artists complete a great day.

DAY 09: GUILIN - SHANGHAI (B/L/D)
Proceed today to Shanghai, the cosmopolitan port city near where the Yangtze spills into the East China Sea. Transfer to the Regal Shanghai East Asia Hotel or similar.

DAY 10: SHANGHAI (B/L/D)
The sights and contrasts of China's most vibrant city fill your day. Stroll the riverfront Bund with its European-style buildings; retreat to the green oasis of the 500-year-old Yu Yuan Gardens; meet local school kids at the Children's Palace after-school program; and gain new appreciation for Chinese art at the magnificent new Shanghai Museum. Return to your hotel to prepare for tonight's thrilling show of the Shanghai Acrobats.

DAY 11: SHANGHAI - LOS ANGELES/SAN FRANCISCO (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home. Arrive San Francisco the same day.
